Shop Talk- by Melissa Bliss: Shop Talk is an exploration of the shopping practices, locations and strategies of people in Hyson Green. Melissa Bliss will investigate where people shop, what they buy and the kinds of shops they use - supermarkets, local shops, markets, second-hand shops, web sites, free shops or finding things in skips.
Over several weeks, Melissa Bliss has been inviting people to contribute ideas, recommendations and photos to the site. You too can explore online the complexity and richness of Hyson Green through mappings of social networks and information on shopping, and also add your own perspectives through conversation and contributions to the site.
Melissa Bliss has shown her work in Cafes, canal basins and shop windows. Through walks, maps, sound, photographs and video she explores how people relate to geography, both around them and in their own thinking. Recently she has been working with hostel residents in London, an asylum seeker threatened with deportation, and teenage girls in Great Yarmouth.
